1. In the NFL’s inaugural season in 1920, only 10 teams participated.

8. In 2002, the Miami Dolphins became the youngest team to join the NFL.

9. Helmets have always been mandatory safety equipment in American football since the inception of the NFL.

11. The first televised Super Bowl and halftime show, which occurred in 1967, was known as the AFL-NFL Championship.

Fact; The name “Super Bowl” began to be prominently used for the NFL championship from 1969. Starting with the third annual championship, the name “Super Bowl” began to gain popularity. Television broadcasting also played a role in its rise.

 

 12. Jay Berwanger was the first player to be drafted in the NFL in 1936 by the Baltimore Ravens.

False; While it’s true that Jay Berwanger was indeed the first player drafted to the NFL, it was not the Baltimore Ravens who drafted him, but the Philadelphia Eagles in 1936.

 

13. NFL fans witnessed the first-ever Super Bowl game decided by a one-point margin in 1992, during Super Bowl XXV.

False; Super Bowl XXV took place in 1991, not 1992. That was a trick question aimed at testing your memory. Super Bowl XXV will always be remembered as one of the finest games in NFL history. It was played between the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills.

 

14. The Allegheny Athletic Association, founded in 1930, was the first sports club to field the inaugural professional football team.

False; The Allegheny Athletic Association, founded in 1890, was the first sports club to field the inaugural professional football team.

 

15. Walter Camp, the Father of American football, was the first to propose a change in team size from 11 to 15 players. This proposal was initially rejected but was later approved in 1880.

False; If you have carefully read the above statement, you must have answered the question as false. If not, then read it again. Walter Camp, who was considered one of the finest athletes of his time, excelled in multiple sports, and football was one of them.

In order to make the game of football strategically more challenging, he proposed the idea of reducing the size of the team from 15 to 11. The idea didn’t sit well with football authorities during that time, but eventually, his idea got approval, and the size of the team was reduced to 11.
